Birdee was the daughter of William Bryan and Gladys Eula (Phillips) Stephens. She had two siblings ; Harold Lee Stephens and Rada Van Stephens Manwell. She grew up with her siblings and parents in Harrah. Her religious orientation was Methodism and she attended Harrah United Methodist Church.

She attended Harrah High School, where she graduated as the valedictorian of her year batch. She worked with Oklahoma Corporation Commission(OCC) in 1968. After working with OCC for a while, she was appointed the acting secretary of the commission in 1981.

Her claim to fame was her marriage to Tim Holt. She is one of the individuals whose marriage shot them to fame.

Tim Holt was born in Beverley Hills, California with the birth name Charles John Holt III, on February 5,1919. He was the son of a renowned actor called Jack Holt and a woman called Margaret Woods.

Before he had his debut film, he was signed to a movie production company called Walter Wanger and was supposed to shoot a movie called Blockade, but the movie was postponed.

His debut into acting came in 1937, when he played the role of a suitor in the movie called Stella Dallas. After this role, his movie agency, Walter Wanger featured him in movie tilted I Met My Love Again (1938). He was then used by Wanger again as Technicolor Western, Gold Is Where You Find It.

Birdee Stephens’ husband had his biggest Western hit in 1942, when he was casted by a director called Orson Welles in The Magnificent Ambersons. This became one of his biggest hits in his career.

Some of them include Stella Dallas (1937) as Richard Grosvenor, I Met My Love Again (1938) as Budge Williams, Gold Is Where You Find It (1938) as Lance Ferris, The Renegade Ranger (1938) as Larry Corwin, Sons of the Legion (1938) as Steven Scott, The Law West of Tombstone (1938) as Ted aka The Tonto Kid, Stagecoach (1939) as Lieutenant Blanchard, etc.
