Tom played for Atlanta Braves from 1987 to 2002, then he went on to play for New York Mets (2003-2007).
Tom later went back to Atlanta Braves in 2009. He played for just a season and he retired. Due to his numerous contributions to the Atlanta Braves team, his 47 jersey was retired by the team in 2010.
