Helenka Ostrum is the daughter of the famous Charlie from the all-time unforgettable movie Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory which was later rereleased as Charlie and the Chocolate factory. Helenka Ostrum is also quite famous for being cast in the series “After They Were Famous” which aired from 1999 to 2005 with four seasons. The series is rated a 7.3 on IMBd.

Helenka Ostrum is the first of the two only children of Charlie whose actual name is Peter, Peter Ostrum. Helenka’s brother is named Leif Ostrum and the two seem to be very close although we do not mostly see them around. She was born to her father whom we already know Peter and her mother Loretta Ostrum.
Leif her brother, seems to follow in his father’s footsteps and is into acting.
Helenka is known to a vegetarian and had interest in horses after watching her father’s movie Willy Wonka. For her interest in animals, especially horses, she studied veterinary medicine at the Cornell University College.

Helenka Ostrum’s father, from Chocolate Factory and the Willy Wonka
Born in Dallas, USA as Peter Gardner Ostrum, Peter is a former American Child actor and currently an American veterinarian. He was born on 1st November, 1957. Peter is the youngest child of Dean Gardner Ostrum, who lived from 1922 to 2014 and Sarepta Mabel, who also lived from 1922 to 2021. Peter had for siblings.

Helenka Ostrum’s father Peter moved from Dallas to Cleveland by the age of twelve and it was there that he was discovered and selected by the talent agents of Willy Wonka. The story says that Peter was in sixth grade and was performing a play at the Cleveland Play House children’s theatre when he was noticed by the talent agents who were by then looking for someone perfect enough to palay the role of Charlie Bucket in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory which was later released again in 2005 as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The movie was a huge success.
Although he enjoyed filming the movie, Peter denied the opportunity to sign a three-film contract given to him by David L. Wolper giving the reason that he turned the offer down because he wanted to hold “the freedom to choose what he played, and in what picture.”

After the movie, he rarely spoke about his role in the movie going to the extent of lying to people that it was his brother, who starred in the movie, or why he did not continue down that path but in 1990, he began speaking to schoolchildren about the film and he made it an annual tradition. When Charlie and the Cholate factory was released in theatres again in 2005, he became the topic of discussion all over again.
After shooting Willy Wonka, the father of Helenka Ostrum moved to New Jersey where he attended North Hunterdon Regional High School in Hunterdon County. He became quite interested in his family’s horses when and was influenced by the veterinarian who tended to them. He took a break between high school and college and to the new found love of his life, horses working at the Delaware Equine Center in Pennsylvania.

Helenka Ostrum’s father Peter began to miss Hollywood and acting and so starting thinking about returning. He even visited California for a week to give it another shot but made the choice to rather study Veterinary Medicine, pursuing a degree in veterinary medicine instead. It seemed he had found his passion and continued his studies at Cornell University, graduating with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984.
As of last year, 2021, Helenka Ostrum’s father, Peter was known to be living in Glenfield, New York with his wife Loretta, having raised two children and as of June 2022, he was known to be working in in Lowville also in New York both as a veterinarian with the Countryside Veterinary Clinic, working mainly with horses and cows and as a managing partner with Dairy Health & Management Services. Ostrum also took part in Veterinarians on Call, a Pfizer-funded video series that highlighted the work of large animal veterinarians.
He married his wife and mother of his two kids Loretta M. Lepkowski around 1988 and has been with her ever since.
