Theresa Stefanotti was born October 6, 1906 in New York County, Manhattan in the United States. She died February 15, 1983 in Coconino County, Arizona at age 76. She was buried in Mason Hills, Los Angeles County. Her nationality was American.

Her parents are Henry Armando Stefanotti and Henrietta Charlotte Stefanotti. They were both natives of Manhattan, New York. She had two sisters ; Evelyn L. Stefanotti and Ernestine Henrietta Stefanotti. Theresa is the oldest of all the three siblings.

William Bendix and Theresa Stefanotti got married on 22nd October 1927. They were friends from childhood. It was a big celebrity wedding, which saw in attendance friends and family of both the bride and the groom. In attendance was also celebrity friends of William.

The couple got married after dating for a while. They were together as husband and wife for 38 years, 2 months. The marriage did not end in a divorce, it ended when William died in 1964, due to complication of malnutrition and lobar pneumonia. He was buried at San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Los Angeles.

William and Theresa’s marriage produced two children. They biologically had one daughter, Lorraine Bendix and later adopted another daughter, Stephanie Bendix. Lorraine was born in 1929 and she died in 1987. Stephanie on the other hand was born 1944 and she died in 2010.

He is also the grandson of a German composer, conductor and violinist called Max Bendix. William was named after this his grandfather.

He began his career at age 30, at a theatre called Federal Theatre Project in New Jersey. His debut film was released in 1942. In most of his movies, he usually played the role of  detective, serviceman or well-hearted gangster. Before he was gained recognition, he stared in movies like The Glass Key, Lifeboat, The Hairy Ape.

William had his breakthrough in the industry by playing the role of Gus in a 1944 movie titled Lifeboat. In this movie, he was a dying and wounded American sailor.

In 1960, William summed up his life, he said ”I’ve had a long, – varied, pleasant, eventful career. I don’t hate anybody and I don’t have any bitter thoughts. I started out without any advantages, but I’ve been lucky and successful and I’ve had fun.” He made this statement in an interview.
