Luzette Sarcone is the former wife of the American Baseball coach Tony La Russa. Tony La Russa is former baseball player and current professional baseball coach who is the manager for the Chicago White Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB).

La Russa was married to Luzette Sarcone for eight years. They were married from 1965-1973. The duo had two daughters, Andrea and Averie. Tony has had little contact with them since the divorce which is probably because he gave Luzette full custody of Andrea and Averie.

Apparently, his cutting contact was because two psychologists advised, with his and Luzette Sarcone agreement, that he has “no personal or telephonic contact” with his two daughters who at that time were five years old (Andrea) and four years old (Averie) until they could make an “independent determination” about his role in their lives.
In the 2007 Cardinals media guide only La Russa’s 34-year marriage to his second wife Elaine, and with two daughters, Bianca and Devon is listed. In a 1995, a New York Supreme Court judge dismissed a case his first daughters brought. Andrea and Averie demanded $16 million for the emotional distress of not being publicly recognized as La Russa’s children. According to court documents, the divorce papers stated that Tony provide some financial settlement to them.

The documents did not state that he pay child support or long-term alimony. His lawyer stated that his client had offered early on to pay for and join in-counselling sessions with his daughters, but he was denied. Luzette Sarcone, Andrea and Averie however denied having been made that offer. The daughters said in court that La Russa had rejected their attempts to re-establish contact saying that since the divorce they have met with their father once, in 1995, in a Manhattan hotel, with lawyers present.
La Russa however blames the divorce on disharmony between two non compatible people who married young. “If it’s a mistake and you stay there, I mean, there was going to be suffering,” he says. “And the longer you stay, the more suffering there is for everybody.” What is his only regret? “I regret that there’s three women that I affected. If I hadn’t gotten married, that wouldn’t be true.”

La Russa married Elaine Coker shortly after his divorce to Sarcone became official. Elaine Coker now Elaine La Russa and Tony La Russa have been happily married since December 31st, 1973. They have two daughters, Bianca Tai and Devon Kai.
In 1991, Tony and Elaine founded the Walnut Creek-based foundation the Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation, their mission is to rescue abandoned and injured animals and a program to help abused children, elders, and people in hospitals with visits from dogs and cats.
This may be hard to believe, but La Russa and his wife made an appearance in December 2006 in the 2nd annual MAD Hatter Performance and Tea Party in the new roles of Mr. and Mrs. Mother Ginger. They appeared alongside their daughter, Devon.

He was raised in nearby Ybor City, Florida, the same city in which his parents met while both were working in the local cigar factory. The La Russa family then moved to West Tampa, Florida when Tony was growing up. This was where Tony started playing American Legion baseball and PONY League baseball alongside teammate Lou Piniella.
Tony attended Jefferson High School in Tampa and after he graduated, he was signed by the Kansas City Athletics in June 1962 as a middle infielder on the condition that the Athletics pay for his college education at the University of South Florida. A pretty cool deal.
