Dean Winters is an American character actor, known widely for his character in the prison drama Oz and roles in TV series like Rescue Me, 30 Rock, Sex and the City and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. He has been active in the movie industry from 1995 till date 2022.
Dean Winters was born July 20, 1964 and is 57 years old in 2022. The actor was born in New York City but was raised on Long Island with his two brothers and sister. His two brothers are Scott, an actor and Bradford, who is a writer. He has Irish and Italian background. His Italian background has made him able to speak the Italian language very fluent.
He had most of his childhood days in Scottdale, Arizona. Dean was born to an electrical enginer father called Patrick Winters and Magna Winters. Dean Winters contracted a bacteria infection and had a cardiac arrest and the actor almost died. After going through multiple surgical operations, he had gangrene which caused the doctors to amputate his two toes and half of a thumb.

In an interview with Page Six, Dean said he has been in constant pains anytime he walks since having his toes and half thumb amputated. “I’ve got neuropathy on, you know, on a whole different level where I can’t feel my hands and my feet,” he told Page Six

The actor suffered gangrene, a dangerous and potentially fatal condition that happens when the blood flow to a large area of tissue is cut off. This causes the tissue to break down and die. Gangrene often turns the affected skin a greenish-black color.
After he suffered this condition, Dean Winters had his two toes and a half thumb amputated, a condition that has left him very discomforted and in constant pain. “It’s a very weird dichotomy. It’s like, it’s very hard to figure out. Nothing you can do about it,” he said. “I’ve been sucking it up because, you know, the alternative is not a place where I want to be.”
